The Make It Up Club is supported by the City of Yarra.
This event is being held on stolen land. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. MIUC will support paying the rent by donating a portion of the door sales to Blak Pearl Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Creative Studio
First time collab-ing with Harriet in about 10 years or something? Looking forward to cranking some noisy darkness just like the ol’ days. Here’s some sounds from the ol’ days…
From 2017 to 2024 Radio bar had been at the center of some the best noise/drone shows to hit the city with a tonne of dope memories made. The bar became a home for some of the best and weirdest shit you could ever have the misfortune of walking past on a busy sunday in fitzroy.
Unfortunately all goods must come to an end as we host what will be the final noise/drone at radio bar. Come with us to celebrate and get fucked up by noise one last time.
Featuring:
Agnostic Hunk (ft. members of skxi)
External Organ (ft. members of Whitehorse)
Body Horror (special one off reform)
Birthday Girls Orchestra (ft. members of Ultracancer/Dead Resonance/Pubis Mons/Worthless Scum)
Very sad to be saying goodbye to Radio Bar after many years of mad noisy gigs. Big cheers to owners and absolute legends Caryn & Paul for their support and enthusiasm for hosting gross underground sounds. Mega cheers to homies Anthony Cooley & Rod Cooper for organising stuff, keeping it real and working hard to cultivate a welcoming community and good vibes. Despite the bummer I’m well psyched to collab with fellow noise-lovers Bean, Anthony, Shane for FESTERING ASTHMATIC SLOP DONKEY! No doubt it will be faaaaarkin brutal!
I finally made a video for my 2023 audio response to visual score “Frequency Assembly 1” created by Tina Douglas for “hypha_e” visual score/performance project – http://tinadouglas.net/hypha_e One 15-minute track in 6 parts/”scenes”, representing my interpretation of the 6 panels of the visual score. Abstract worlds, ambiguous realities, transmissions of unknown origin, and other mysterious sci-fi shit. [00:00] 1. Blast Tunnel [02:39] 2. Infinite Data Expansion Wave [04:36] 3. Hallucinogenic Hyperspace Delirium [07:24] 4. Phantasmal Off-World [09:48] 5. Shifting [12:38] 6. Unrecognised Coordinates
This is the most involved thing I’ve ever done with SPASMOSLOP. I had the artwork on the wall of my studio for about a year and a half, gradually making recordings of what I thought it sounded like, bouncing back & forth between the visuals and the sound, adding layers and nitpicking the fuck out of everything as ideas came to me. Big thanks to Tina for the inspiration and coordination! Among many firsts that came about in this process, it’s also the first time I’ve ever had a SPASMOSLOP recording properly mastered – by Jason Fuller at Goatsound – and it sounds amazing, especially with headphones. He also mastered this while we were at it and completely transformed it into what I wanted it to be. Thanks Jason! Floating on inspiration from this project, I’ve been slowly recording a new SPASMOSLOP album for the last year or so which is nearly finished and should be out this year if I can have the self control to stop tinkering with it.

Thanks to Nat Grant from Let Your Freak Flag Fly for asking me to contribute! Suss the release on bandcamp or donate at http://3cr.org.au if you’re able to.
On a personal note… it’s taken a really fckn long time and countless hours of self-teaching, experimenting and disappointing recording sessions going into the bin, but in the last couple of years I’m finally getting closer to making SPASMOSLOP recordings that line up with what I want the project to sound/feel like. More to come in the future! If anyone’s actually reading this and gives a shit – stay tuned.
