Updates – Jan 2025

It’s been a while…

SPASMOSLOP – been working on a new album on & off for over a year. In trying to cook up the sounds that are in my brain I of course made it stupidly over-complicated and incomprehensible but I’m trying to make it make sense. I record in a really basic way and mix everything in Audacity and have no fuggin idea what I’m doing so it takes forever. Currently remixing it for the 2000th time, then it’ll get mastered by someone who does know what they’re doing and should sound sick.

SPEW BALLOON – nearly finished our new 6-track EP. Studio recording with lots of mics & shit, but being mixed by Tolman so it sounds proper filthy & wild! Should hopefully be released in some form in time for Flippin The Bird or one of our other gigs in March. Then planning to record for a full-length album mid-year or so.

ESP MAYHEM – a few gigs coming up. Been jamming a lot ahead of recording for a full-length soooooon.

CLOGGED – possible resuscitation and new release 2025/2026… maybe…

G.B.S. – new recordings in the works for some kind of release

STRESSED OUT STRAIGHT GUY – despite not actually being very stressed out I’ll be doing vocals for this HEADLESS DEATH punk rock side project thing, unless I get replaced by an actual SOSG.

So psyched with how this turned out! This is our first recording that really nails the ESPM sound – thick, loud, unique, crazy! Technically ESPM is a very hard band to record & mix but Jason & Xavier did an amazing job getting it all together while being mercilessly overseen, scrutinised and nitpicked by us.

𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋 – This town’s supreme scions of the angular and bristling point where the weirder, more discordant ends of metal, hardcore and sludge met in the mid/late 90s and all genres hit their most rewarding sweet spots. These guys refuse to take their feet out of that beartrap to keep bleeding the rich blood of Kiss It Goodbye, Unsane, Breach and Neurosis.

𝐆𝐈𝐋 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐄 – One of the recent wave of bands taking on the heroic task of stopping ‘screamo’ from being a dirty word. Heralding back to the fire-bellied explosions of arrhythmic dissonance and benign violence they take the pure essences of this abused and embattled genre and inject it full of fresh ideas, fantastic songs, tasteful dramatics and a heap of speed.

𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐔𝐍𝐓 – like the rest of the bill play a genre plagued with mediocrity and predictability but shove enough electricity up its ass to have the corpse brimming with new life. Nominally ‘old school death metal’ these guys know where the riches are hidden and are an unstoppable, uncontrollable example of making death metal exciting, inventive and engaging again, all the while staying exceptionally brutal.

The Japanese forensick goregrind bulldozer will tear its way through NSW, the ACT and VIC in August 2024.

Kingbean and Wayniac are putting on one last show to celebrate them being old.

The World is not yet ready to announce the last 2 bands, but you should be there for Religious Observance and G.B.S.
Word on the street is that it’s Pete’s birthday and Sean’s birthday pretty recently so you should celebrate with them too!!
