To wring out the final, spluttering bursts of warmth in Melbtown’s April summer and ease us into the sonic bleakness of winter 2017, MIUC hosts some fittingly abstracted and chaotic atonal improv this week. Intrinsic Light are a long-standing, yet occasional collaboration of two trailblazers of the no-core, break-bruit, anti-tonic, darklight Melbourne scene, fusing the grim and the hopeful in a maelstrom of riffblasting transcendence. The similarly inspired duo of Yuka Mikayama and Nik Kennedy deliver intense blasts of post-grind-noise-improv madness. And, kicking things off, the ultra-digital and the ultra-analogue combination of intrepid A/V artist Vijay Thillaimuthu with MIUC curatorial alumni, theremin-core protégé, Kerrie Farnsworth.
